Being as how I am soooo behind in blogging - I had this pic from my state convention back in March. A little background on it - every year, the state photographers association has a convention and during the course of that event - a "shootout" is held. What that is is any photographers who want to enter can, and what happens is that each photog gets 10 minutes to photograph a model. We were lucky this year and had a real aspiring model to work with.
After each photographer finishes their 10 minutes, they choose the 1 image to go into competition. The image can have nothing done to it - no retouching, cropping or anything that photographers often use to make a so-so image into a great one.
Shown is the 1 image that I took and chose and I was pleasantly surprised to have my name announced as the 2nd place winner!!! This was against 19 other photographers, most of the other photogs entered are considered to be the top high school senior shooters in the state!!
My 2nd place win garnered me a 3 day workshop of my choice at the IPAS school (International Photographic Arts School) in Indianapolis. I chose Jen Hillenga's class - Images to Art & picked up a whole lot of new ideas that I am implementing!
